I remember this very well! My very first solo trip aged 22, on a 1 way ticket I might add and 2 heavy suitcases - to South Africa. We had a ball on that boat (the last Union Castle Liner to sail from S'ton to Durban) for almost 3 weeks, if only my mother knew... Parties below deck with all the crew with a girl called Pauline who also worked for the FO - will check out a photo and send it to you Gerry so you can post it for me
